Cypress, TX Chapter

My name is Varun Thachil. I am 16 years old, a sophomore at Cypress Ranch High School, and current captain of the varsity tennis team. I have been playing tennis since I was 7 years old, and the sport has taught me crucial life lessons that I will follow for years to come. I also participate in USTA Texas tournaments, and I am currently ranked among the top 25 in the state. Besides playing tennis, I enjoy playing piano and volunteering at a nursing home. I founded the Cypress chapter of Kids Serving Kids because I felt it imperative to share this wonderful game with the less fortunate. Not only does tennis improve your strength and conditioning, but it also teaches you to develop strategy and motivation to succeed. These are skills that are essential while facing the inevitable obstacles in life. My goal is to introduce this sport to more kids in my community and help make a difference.

Update: Varun collected 70 rackets so far and made his first donation to the local YMCA. Varun decided to donate locally as this would directly benefit his community. Varun received  a letter from the YMCA Director of Community Relations.  Varun thoroughly enjoys working for Kids Serving Kids, and looks forward to continuing this project.
